Cabinet Care

With proper care your KitchenFX cabinets will retain their beauty for a lifetime. The following care guidelines are recommended for the care and maintenance of your cabinets.

General information & simple guidelines
• Keep cabinet surfaces dry
• Wipe water spills inside the cabinet immediately to prevent swelling or
   de-lamination of the core material
• Use a blotting action rather than a wiping motion when cleaning cabinets
• Never spray directly onto cabinet surfaces

Basic Cleaning for Wood:
• To remove dust, use a soft lint free cotton cloth to wipe down all
   exterior an interior surfaces
• Clean with a soft lint free cotton cloth using only a mild non-abrasive
   soap and warm water
• Dry surface immediately with a soft lint free cotton cloth

Laminate, Thermoform & Painted wood surface care:
• Clean all spills immediately using a soft cloth
• May be cleaned with a non-abrasive detergent and warm water
• Do not use cleaners with acetone, ethyl alcohol or mineral oils
• Do not use harsh detergents, abrasive cleaners, or bleach, as these
substances can damage the laminate surface and impair its
   protective qualities.
• Do not use a dishcloth or sponge to clean or dry cabinet exteriors
• Do not wax or polish Thermoform & Laminate surfaces

• Avoid using a dishcloth or sponge to clean cabinet surfaces and doors.
Debris and harmful detergents may scratch or discolour the finish.
• Always avoid abrasive ammonia and dye based cleaners and soap, as
they will scratch the surface or dull the finish.
• Avoid draping wet or damp dishtowels over doors of sink base cabinets.

Temperature change & excess moisture
Extremes in temperature and moisture can cause materials to expand and contract, eventually damaging the finish.

Base ovens; self cleaning ovens must be pulled forward clearing the base cabinet a minimum of 6-12" when self cleaning feature is activated.

Counter-top appliances; Care must be taken when using kettles, coffee makers, toasters, toaster ovens, rice cookers, portable grills and any other heat/steam generating appliances. This is to ensure that upper doors and cabinet are not subjected to excessive temperature and/or moisture.

Cabinet Interiors; To clean, simply wipe with a clean, soft damp cloth and dry immediately.  Never use kitchen cloths or sponges that might have detergent or grease on them.

To remove food residue or grease, use any common dishwashing liquid (not detergent) or solution of mild soap and water. Wipe with a clean, damp cloth. Dry thoroughly. If a spill occurs, clean and dry immediately. Left unattended, a spill can soak through the laminate or wood surface and cause damage.

Wood Disclosure

Wood is a natural product; no two trees are alike. Branches, sap, and hard and soft areas of the tree, result in knots, sap lines, mineral streaks, colour variances and other natural distinctions. It is these features which form part of the beauty of natural solid wood; such natural characteristics are not defects and are often much more significant on the back of the doors or drawer fronts. Colour variation may also be noticeable between the stiles (vertical edges) and the rails (horizontal edges) due to the grain going in opposing directions and reflecting light differently. A minor amount of wood filler is normal on cabinet doors. All of these factors cause variances in the finished product.

If you don't enjoy the natural effects of real wood, we suggest you choose a finish that will conceal these variances, or use a manufactured product.

Adjusting your Cabinet Doors

Use the hinge diagram to adjust the appropriate screws to correct minor door adjustments.

Cabinet Hinge

Lateral Adjustment
If your cabinet door seems to be offset to the left or right, adjust the lateral position. To adjust the lateral position of the cabinet door from –4 mm to +0.5m, turn screw #1.

Depth Adjustment
If the cabinet door is sticking out too much, adjust the depth. The depth of the cabinet door can be adjusted from 0 mm to 3 mm by adjusting screw #2.

Vertical Adjustment
If your door is too high or low on your cabinets or one corner is higher than the other; adjust the height of the door. For an adjustment between –2 mm and +2 mm, turn screw #3. These adjustments can be made independently of each other.
